Black Sunrise [The black sun of the white earth]

Shibasaki Masakazu
Our tour left Narita on November 17 and arrived at Cape Town of South Africa via London on 18th
br /itish Airways for London where I boarded went along the Russian Arctic Circle at midnight and observed wonderful aurora of form of green curtain from a plane for several hours, and it was it with a start of a good trip of a good omen.
I stayed in Cape Town for four days and observed Cape of Good Hope and table mountain, South Africa astronomical observatory. It was very good that both were blessed with good weather.

It was convenient to here, but the outskirts of a Novolazarevskaya, Antarctica base of an arrival place of the South Pole were behind with departure about a blizzard just before departure by cargo plane Ilyushin 76 in the South Pole for 1 and a half day.
Because was a shock, but this blizzard came just before a solar eclipse a little if, as a result, said; weather on the solar eclipse day just after that to an observation object and a corner of the horizon where it is it of perception fine, was the best.

This cargo plane included a tour visitor from Japan of 33 us, and 30 Japanese several people, 20 American several people, other Europe and several Indian observers, sum total 80 of ten staff of South Pole base base got. Mori of an astronaut was br /oken, too. However, I was small but cozy if I usually compared it with a tour of a solar eclipse observed in various countries in the world. [Only it will be for this South Pole to be unexplored regions in an unexplored region.] Just after total eclipse of the sun observation place arrival

By the way, by the relations that South Pole arrival lost 1 and a half day, sightseeing such as South Pole sight-seeing flights by biplane was compressed when I arrived at a runway on ice and moved from a Novolazarevskaya base to observation place in 10 kilos ahead by the sled which seemed to be a prefab house hut connected with a snowmobile immediately.
The solar eclipse on the horizon was very wonderful. V I understand that a-shaped umbr /a gimlet moves to the right from the left clearly. I was very beautiful.

The sky of the sky was able to confirm a lot of stars very darkly as well as the Venus. Unfortunately the aurora which I expected was not watched. When was two shots with a total eclipse of the sun when I see aurora here, is splendid when watch aurora in one trip in Arctic Circle and Antarctic Circle; thought that is experienced, but luxury does not say to even ..., and is satisfied with even the present conditions very much. Movement of an umbra

Because even the South Pole, the horizon top had few dusts, as for Yura Yura of the atmosphere, the image of a solar eclipse did not become senile at all without being veiled although there was it to some extent. If it seemed to be the totally black solar first sunrise of a new year and expressed this situation, a work of the Seiji Fujishiro teacher who made a mysterious shadow picture of a black tone floated to a head unintentionally. Because it was observation group, I enjoyed a late-night total eclipse of the sun by the naked eye slowly and carefully not a photograph group. A return returned in the same way via London, too, but there was an aurora state of perfect spiritual concentration again from a plane. Movement of an umbra

Generally I watched 2 in one trip (the Arctic Circle, aurora, Antarctic Circle, total eclipse of the sun), and, among said four major astronomy phenomena (a total eclipse of the sun / aurora / a meteor shower / a huge comet), it was an at all satisfactory trip.Thank you, in search of four major astronomy phenomena (a total eclipse of the sun in particular), I will conquer seven whole world continents as a result of trip at this South Pole by having gone to many parts of the world.
It was milage (coming and going for the London Cape Town transit South Pole via the Arctic Circle) solar eclipse traveler's diary best in history to go around around the earth as things mentioned above! !

Than a manager. I made this traveler's diary from the article which Shibasaki Masakazu was contributed to on a solar eclipse bulletin board.
